Friday, November 17th, 2006
Mark Martin made his last race in a Roush Racing truck a memorable one, pulling away for a hard-earned victory Friday night, while Todd Bodine wrapped up the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship with a 21st-place finish. Martin, who will end a 19-year association with Jack Roush's team in Sunday's Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, won for the sixth time in 14 truck races this season. The 42-year-old Bodine fought a vibration throughout the 134-lap race on the 1.

Failure is only option to derail Johnson’s title

Friday, November 17th, 2006
A right rear tire failure relegated Jimmie Johnson to a 40th-place finish last year at Homestead. Jeff Hammond says another mechanical failure is the only thing that will keep Johnson from the title.

Personal changes helped Knaus get close to title

Friday, November 17th, 2006
When Jimmie Johnson whacked the wall at New Hampshire, his crew chief slumped in his seat atop the pit box. Another season had just been wrecked, this time in Round 1 of the Chase for the championship, and it would probably cost the most dominant team in NASCAR the Nextel Cup title. Chad Knaus took a deep breath, composed himself and told his driver to meet him back in the garage. He wasn't giving up that easily, and it was his job to convince his team they could still make a run at the title.

"We're certainly excited to just get to work," said Johnson, who needs to finish 12th or better in Sunday's race to win his first title.
